I Feel Love – LGBT 50 Concert
We were delighted to contribute in a small way to the LGBT 50 ‘I Feel Love’ concert, a special event broadcast live by BBC Radio 2 and on Red Button TV from Hull, City of Culture 2017.
The concert celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in 1967, a piece of legislation that would transform the lives of millions, give birth to an explosion of music, poetry, writing, art – and love. Presented by Scott Mills and Ana Matronic, the concert features live performances of readings ranging from Oscar Wilde to Alan Hollingshurst and ground-breaking gay songs from Will Young, Alison Moyet, Marc Almond, Bright Light Bright Light, Noah Stewart, Tom Robinson and West Yorkshire’s LGBT choir ‘Gay Abandon’.
We were brought onto the music team by the musical director Mike Dixon and orchestrator Jen Green – the same dream-team who we worked with on the Baku Islamic Solidarity Games earlier in the year. It’s always a joy to work with them and we were pleased to help with some pre-production engineering, building tempo tracks for the band and singers to perform to in the concert.
