Following on from her 2019 EP Wishing, we were delighted to have classical crosssover soprano Mira Ormala back in the studio to create her debut album Dreaming.
We got to create some really unique arrangements of well-know pop, musical theatre and classical hits including Sia’s Chandelier, Chris Issak’s Wicked Game, and The Point Of No Return from Phantom of the Opera which the incredible John Owen Jones came in to duet on. We also had a great session working with the Finnish Youth Choir via zoom, who added their amazing vocals to our version of Sibelius’ Finlandia/Be Still My Soul. On this song, Mira sings in Swedish, Finnish and English, celebrating all three of her mother tongues as well as the fact that she studied at the Sibelius academy in Norway!
Possibly our favourite part of the album though is helping Mira to create her first two original songs, Dream With Me and Once Back In Time. With these we managed to bookend the full scope of the album, with the former being an 80s style classical rock ballad, and the latter being a stripped back acoustic number with piano and cello. Shoutout to the amazing string players we worked with as well – Laura Ayoub (violin), Jennifer Ames (viola) and Verity Simmons (cello), who really brought our arrangements to life.
