About:

Joe started learning the piano aged 4, and has been arranging, musically directing and playing for singers, bands, choirs and theatre productions since the age of 14. Joe’s wizardry on keys had taken him and from tiny back rooms in pubs, through major festivals including Kendall Calling and Lost Evenings, right up to The Royal Albert Hall, The O2 Arena and the Dubai Opera House. He has gigged and toured with artists and bands including Bears Den, Frank Turner, The Arkells and Kerry Ellis, was lucky enough to perform Leddra Chapman live on the late, great Terry Wogan’s BBC Radio 2 show, and plays and produces for his own band Felix Hagan & The Family. Joe regularly MDs concerts and album launches at London venues including The Matcham Room at the Hippodrome, Live at Zedel, The Actor’s Church and Pizza Express Live.

Joe also plays French Horn, bass, percussion, is a whizz at programming, and has always been a geek! He built his first computer at the age of 12, and graduated from the University of Warwick in 2006 with a BSc(Hons) in Maths which he tailored to his interests by writing a paper on the mathematics of piano tuning. In addition to this he left university with Musical Director credits in 14 theatre productions, six years of Sound-On-Sound Magazine back-issues, and a Special Award for Dedication & Commitment to the University of Warwick Music Centre after playing with and conducting orchestras and bands under the tuition of renowned conductor Paul McGrath (who you may know from the BBC series Maestro) .

After University Joe decided to bring harmony to his inner-geek and outer-muso in the form of music production. He began working as Studio Manager and Producer for Cherry Pie Studios, whilst simultaneously freelancing as Musical Director for several professional productions at Theatre Royal Windsor (Bill Kenwright Productions), and an arranger and transcriber for publishers Music Sales LTD and Boosey & Hawkes, writing sheet music and vocals selections for various artists including Leona Lewis, Adele, Kylie Minogue, Alphabeat, Oasis and Gnarls Barkley.

After three years of freelancing in these various musical areas, Joe and Nikki decided to combine their skills and set up Auburn Jam Music in 2009. Their composition, arranging, orchestrating and music production work now spans TV, advertising, film, theatre and live entertainment scores for clients including BBC, Warner Music, BMW and England Rugby, as well as many albums for bands, singers, songwriters and musical theatre cast recordings.
