We are delighted to have been involved with new musical The Stationmaster for several years now, from transcribing the score with our good friend Tim Connor in it’s various stages of development, to recording workshop performances and finally shepherding it coming to life in this Original Cast Album (available on all major music platforms) and Complete Work audio drama (available as four episodes on Soundcloud). We were delighted to record, mix, sound design and produce these recordings.
The work, which is inspired by Christopher Hampton’s translation of Ödön von Horváth’s Judgment Day, features a book by Susannah Pearse, with music and lyrics by Tim Connor, direction from Emma Kilbey, orchestrations by Jason Carr, and musical direction by Chris Guard.
The cast features Nigel Richards (The Phantom of the Opera) as Thomas Price, Alex Young (Stranger Things: The First Shadow) as Anna Cartwright, Jessica Sherman (Dear Evan Hansen) as Catherine Price, Nicola Sloane (Standing at the Sky’s Edge) as Mrs. Deakin, John Coates as Martin Cartwright, Kailun Dennie as Davey, Abiona Omonua as Mrs. Teasley, Rhys Jennings as Inspector/Joe/Judge/Ghost, and Adam Stickler as Mr. Teasley/Sargeant. The ensemble includes Tomas Aleman, Katherine Douglas, Shannon Herbert, Joe Partridge, Katie Rough, Kirsten Ruth, Samuel Trotman, Andrew Kenny.
Set in a small close-knit provincial community in 1955, The Stationmaster tells the tale of railway stationmaster Thomas Price, and a secret kiss that causes him to miss a crucial signal. When a resulting train crash kills 12 people, the lengths to which Price will go to cover up his fatal mistake are tested.
